Tattoo?

On the tattoo front, I've scrapped my little doodle for some variation (sans wording) on the above. That is if I do this at all, which at this point is a 50/50. Time for a quick pro/con list:

Pros:
If I don't do it, I'll keep thinking about doing it.
I'll look purdy (I mean tough, yeah, tough)
It will serve as a reminder of a)remembering to want b)my 25th year which I'm hoping to pack with adventure.
My husband likes ladies with tats.

Cons:
Erm, hello, permanent?
It's almost more counterculture in my culture to not be inked.
The journey of finding the right artist will rival the Odyssey.
How many other lame chicks already have her scratched into their backs?

Depends on your true motivation for it; is it for what others think, or is it for you?

You can assuage some of the con by having your tat artist (tattoist?) give you an original piece of artwork.

Show him the pic, and tell him you want the theme, but then take creative license. They like that.

You can also avoid some pain if you don't want the blue floor under the girlie. It would keep it from looking too blocky, giving her more flow to your body. Depending on where you want it put... the less detail, shading, general poking of your body, the better.

Regardless of what you get, you will be tough. Even those that want Tigger put on their bod have to suffer the needle.

Go for it! My man doesn't care for them. So I probably won't ever get the Elektra tattoo I've been seeking for years. But I'm still happy I have the two I got before him. Ha!

TC: Never cared much for what others think, but I am crappily paranoid about what I (am going to) think though. Sometimes I'm worse than a gaggle of twelve-year-old girls. In other words a neurotic narcissist with snobbish tendencies.

GIB: Yeah, the only background I might keep is the circle she's sitting in, and even that's up for redesign. I've never cared much for the "fine art" replications that look like full-color plates from art textbooks. The only colors I'm married to are the white of the dress, the red of the apples, and the green of the snake. I'm prepared for the pain. That's never been too much of an issue for me. I'm more worried about the itchy healing process, which is always a nag since I pick pick pick.
I might just like an outline of the whole thing. I often think people's art looks better before its colored in. It's the indie comic geek in me.

Thanks for the input!

Get it HUGE on your back and then you won't be able to pick. And I like an outline too.

And the outline would be much less painful, too.

I have a small tat that I got after a particularly dark period in my life. It is a tiny smiley face place where only me and my wife ever see it. I got it to remind me that I am in control of my emotions; not anyone or anything else. And I've never regretted my decision to do it, because I did it for me.

But I do at times think about getting a big Spider-Man logo on my arm for completely superficial reasons...
